LIBERALS PLANNING TO USE UNDERHANDED TACTICS

Ontario PC Caucus to consult with experts and will use every tool available to Official Opposition to prevent Dalton McGuinty’s $3 billion tax grab from coming into effect

On Monday November 16, the McGuinty Liberals are planning to introduce a Supply Bill that includes surprise legislation to formally implement the HST. Worse still, the Liberals have given notice that they intend to curtail scrutiny and debate of this major piece of legislation and force a vote within three days of it being introduced.

Given the major impact the HST will have on the cost of living for seniors, small businesses and middle class families, it is outrageous that such a major sales tax change would be hidden in a larger piece of legislation and rushed through the legislature without a full public review.

The Ontario PC Caucus is currently consulting with Parliamentary experts on the tactics that are available to them in order to block this underhanded move. The Official Opposition will use every available tool at our disposal to defend Ontario families and stop this tax grab from coming into effect.
