LIBERALS DENY TAXPAYERS A VOICE

NEWS

Today the McGuinty Liberals began the process of rushing through legislation to formally implement their $3 billion HST tax grab.

The McGuinty Government intends to push through this legislation with minimal debate and no opportunity for province-wide public consultation and review. Given the major impact the HST will have on the cost of living for seniors, small businesses and middle class families, this represents an abuse of the democratic process.

The Ontario PC Caucus is joining a grassroots campaign push for a full series of cross-province public hearings into the HST. A first step for concerned Ontario citizens is to visit www.daltonsalestax.com and sign the anti HST petition.

QUOTES

“Dalton McGuinty claims not to be ashamed of his HST plan, but he sure does act like it. If he means what he says – he will abandon his plan to rush his tax grab through the back door, and instead take the HST directly to the taxpayers today.”

- Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak

“This is nothing less than a slippery and gutless attempt to deny a voice to the seniors, middle class families and small businesses who have the most to lose from this $3 billion tax grab.”

- Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak
