HST will hit Niagara residents right in the pocketbook: Hudak
A harmonized sales tax is bad medicine for an ailing economy, Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak, says.
“It’ll cost you more to fill your car up with gas, to heat your home and on services from getting your hair cut to taking your dog to the vet,” Hudak, the MPP for Niagara-West Glanbrook, said Monday after addressing the Ontario Home Builder Association at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort.
Growing the construction sector is vital to Ontario’s economy, Hudak said.
His party is calling on the governing Liberals to suspend the provincial land transfer tax for one year — a move he says would spur construction and save homebuyers almost $4,000 on the purchase of a $350,000 home.
