Conservative leader rallies against single sales tax

When every penny counts for many Ontario families, adding tax onto even a cheap meal can be a hardship, says provincial Conservative leader Tim Hudak.
Hudak was in Kitchener Monday lobbying against the new single sales tax being rolled out on July 1, 2010, combining the five per cent GST collected by the federal government and the province’s eight per cent GST at the cash register.
That new approach will add provincial tax to previously exempt goods and services, like an inexpensive meal, he warned.
